CCIE Security techtorial at Networkers
On Monday I attended the CCIE Security techtorial led by Yusaf Bhaiji. It started out a little slow with just basic information on the outlines and not much technical knowledge but after about 90 minutes he got into the nitty gritty technical information. From the sound of it the current v2.0 blueprint for the lab will only be available until around February of 2009 when the v3.0 will become available. I will go ahead and study for the newer blueprint due to the fact I won’t be ready before Februrary.
A few of the changes that the v3.0 blueprint brings are.
- No more Pix or VPN concentrator
- 4240 IDS/IPS instead of the 4215 and running version 6.x
- All routers will be running ISR (12.4T)
- 3550 switches will now be 3560 running 12.2(x)SE
- Cisco Secure ACS will be version 4.1
- ASA will be running version 8.x
After this techtorial was over it gave me a much greater respect for the test and let me know how much I needed to put into this if I really want to pass it. In my three trips to Networkers since 2005 I felt this techtorial was the best session I have attended.
